Job Description

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused CSSD Instrument Technician to join our surgical team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilisation, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with current infection control standards and AS/NZS 4187 guidelines.

This position plays an essential part in ensuring patient safety and supporting the efficiency of theatre operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, assembling and sterilising of reusable medical instruments and devices.
  • Operate and monitor sterilisation equipment and maintain accurate sterilisation records.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Perform quality assurance checks and participate in internal audits as required.
  • Communicate effectively with theatre staff to ensure availability of correctly sterilised trays.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the CSSD and surgical unit.

We offer family flexible rostering, no weekends or on call, free onsite parking and great workplace culture.

Ideally we are after someone who would like to work part time hours - 2 days per week with the flexibility to flex up if required. 

 


About you

We are looking for a reliable and meticulous technician with a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and teamwork.

You will also bring:

  • Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (mandatory).
  • Previous experience working in a CSSD or hospital/surgical setting (preferred).
  • Sound knowledge of infection control principles and AS/NZS 4187 standards.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
