The opportunity
Join our collaborative and high-performing team as an Orthoptist/Ophthalmic technician, where you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting ophthalmologists through clinical assessments, diagnostics, and patient care delivery. In this role, you will:
- Perform accurate patient assessments and clinical diagnostics in line with ophthalmologist protocols.
- Contribute to patient flow management and clinic efficiency.
- Assist in maintaining medical equipment and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in patient consultations and deliver patient-centred service with empathy and professionalism.
- Support safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the clinic.
About VEI Camberwell
Vision Eye Institute Camberwell is a comprehensive ophthalmology clinic with a highly experienced team that provide care for general ophthalmological conditions, as well as more specialised areas such as glaucoma, retinal conditions, cataracts, corneal conditions, laser eye surgery and reconstructive surgery (oculoplastics). We are located near Camberwell Junction and are close to public transport, with onsite parking.
About you
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Orthoptist/Ophthalmic technician with a patient-first mindset, who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality care as part of a collaborative team.
You will also bring:
- Degree in Orthoptics or Optometry, with AOB registration.
- Proven experience in a clinical orthoptic setting.
- Strong attention to detail, clinical judgement, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator with a team-first approach and customer service mindset.
- Comfortable using diagnostic tools and EMR systems.
- Able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment while maintaining empathy and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Mandarin an advantage
