About Us
VEI Hurstville has been at the forefront of technological advancements in ophthalmology for 20 years. The clinic has a contemporary interior and features 2 comfortable reception areas, 9 consulting rooms and a treatment room for minor procedures. The consulting clinic is co-located with our day surgery so the role will provide the opportunity to work in both clinic and hospital settings.

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced medical environment? We are seeking a warm, reliable, and patient-focused Medical Receptionist to join our team on a full-time basis.
As the first point of contact for our patients and specialists, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience from start to finish. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with your ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, will be essential in ensuring the highest level of service is provided to every patient.
Start Date: September / October
Location: Hurstville (approx.15-minute walk from Hurstville train station)
Parking: Street parking and discounted onsite staff parking available
Our practice operates Monday to Friday between 6:00am and 5:30pm, and as part of our collaborative reception team, you will participate in a rotating roster across these hours.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high-quality service and experience for our patients.
- Pro-actively support the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic.
- Perform general reception duties including appointment coordination, data entry, and front-desk support including: (Appointment scheduling for consultations and surgery, coordination of pre- and post-operative care, invoicing, end-of-day banking, management of incoming and outgoing correspondence and preparation of patient documentation, consent forms, surgical quotes, and theatre lists)
- Effective management of clinic diary. Ensuring patient enquiries are attended to and followed up in a timely manner.
- Professionally liaise with all internal and external stakeholders including patients, doctors, referrers and colleagues.
- Manage a high volume of phone, email, and face-to-face enquiries with empathy and efficiency
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive patient information
- Co-ordinate refractive laser bookings, ensuring patients are well-informed and supported through their laser vision correction journey

- Strong computer literacy
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a supportive team culture
- Organised and solutions-focused with ability to multitask during busy periods
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures
Previous experience in a Medical or Ophthalmology/Optometry Reception/Administration role will be highly regarded, however applicants with previous experience in customer service roles including banking, hospitality and retail are encouraged to apply.
