Job Description
Working under the delegation of, and in conjunction with the DoN, the Clinical Nurse (CN) provides supervision and leadership in their delegated area of speciality, ensuring clinical practice is consistent with VEI’s approach to person centered care and clinical best practice standards. The CN significantly contributes to the effective and cost-efficient operations of the Day Surgery on a daily basis.
The CN understands and performs their nursing duties in accordance with the Registered Nurse Standards of Practice as per the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Role Purpose
The CN classification is made in recognition of a Registered Nurse who:
Maintains specialist knowledge, skill attributes, abilities in area of speciality
Supports the DoN to clinically lead and manage the nursing team to deliver contemporary nursing practice that is aligned to organisational standard practice
Is responsible and accountable for the quality of nursing delivery on a shift-by-shift basis. The CN will be recognised as a subject matter expect
Demonstrates clinical competence in ensuring clinical nursing is delivered competently with the goal of excellence in nursing care

Current APHRA Registration
Graduate Qualification in Perioperative Nursing (preferred)
Current, satisfactory National Police Clearance
Current, satisfactory, Working with Children’s Check
Evidence of the right to work lawfully in Australia
Evidence of immunisations in accordance with Worker Risk Category
Significant theatre/perioperative experience
Demonstrated leadership/management experience or skills
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated computer literacy
Commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety
Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work well within a team environment
Working knowledge of all relevant professional standards e.g.: ACORN standards
Demonstrated understanding of the relevant Laws, Acts, Regulations, Charters and Codes of Practice
Scrub/Scout experience, or willing to be trained (essential)
Ophthalmic experience (desirable)
